Commentary
Thursday, July 11, 2019
It’s not so much the inability to get back to sleep.
As it is being awake and unable to do work.
E.G. last night, after a strong hour’s sleep, I woke.
Really woke.
Lying in bed waiting for the sleep teain would be of no avail.
Personal history tells me tha.
Last night’s good thing was that I woke awake.
So I went to shuffle papers.
To put my next day in order.
Then I came across two notes that I could execute instantly: ordering wine bottle caps from Amazon and adding three new subscribers.
I did both.
Then I thought of the blog and created templates for the next two days.
Then I got the idea of this commentary and started on that.
An hour and a half later I returned to bed to continue reading Julia’s Life in France.
Got drowsy.
Turned off light.
And slept.
Another ninety minutes.
Waking to my coffee and workday.
No doubt I’ll need a nap in a couple of hours.
Who cares?
No boss to tell me No!
It’s not so much the ability to do the work.
As it is being drowsy and unable to sleep.

Weather
Thursday, July 11, 2019
On this day Boston will enjoy warm temperatures, with a high of 84* and a feels-like of 86* with a risk of a thunderstorm.
The next days look splendid, as well.
Eighties with a lot of sun.
Anyone complaining?

Chuckle of the Day:
Thursday, July 11, 2019
A Jewish lady's grandson is playing in the water while she is standing on the beach not wanting to get her feet wet.
A huge wave appears and crashes directly over the spot where the boy is wading.
The water recedes and the boy is no longer there.
He simply vanished.
She holds her hands to the sky, screams and cries,"Lord, how could you?
“Have I not been a wonderful grandmother?
“Have I not been a wonderful mother?
“Have I not given to Bnai Brith?
“Have I not given to Haddasah?
“Have I not lit candles every Friday night at sunset?
“Have I not tried my very best to live a life that you would be proud of?"
A loud voice booms from the sky, "OKAY, OKAY!"
Another huge wave appears and crashes on the same spot from which her grandson disappeared.
As the water recedes, the boy is standing there, smiling, splashing around as if nothing had ever happened.
The loud voice booms again "I HAVE RETURNED YOUR GRANDSON.”
She responds, "He had a hat."

This from Sally C on my visit to the Four Seasons’ Bristol Lounge.
Dear Dom,
For reasons I can't fully explain, it pleases me immensely to know that you have the means to go out to dinner and enjoy a $34 burger at a high-scale restaurant without flinching from the financial "damage."
Maybe it's because I've never suffered from class envy, although our culture certainly promotes it.
I've never had much to speak of, and survived lean times like everyone else, but I guess I've learned to appreciate the successes of others, particularly when they've worked their butts off to earn and deserve them.
I'm blessed when such people, like yourself, share their success with me, in so many ways far beyond the pecuniary. (It helps greatly to have a spouse whom I absolutely adore and admire, who's shared our yoke in more ways than I can describe, and who still makes me laugh after 33+ years.)
I love your child-like wonder of the world, seasoned with the wisdom of experience.
Sally
Web Meister Responds: I am indeed fortunate in many, many ways, the most important of them being my association with friends and family. Thank you for your well wishes, my dear.

Megan Anna Rapinoe (born July 5, 1985) is an American professional soccer player who plays for and captains Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League, as a midfielder and winger.
As a member of the United States women's national soccer team, she helped the U.S. win the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, and the gold at the 2012 London Olympics, and finish runners-up at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Since 2018, she co-captains her national team alongside Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan.
Rapinoe is internationally known for her crafty style of play and her precise cross to Abby Wambach in the 122nd minute of the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup quarterfinals against Brazil, which resulted in an equalizer goal and eventual win for the Americans after a penalty shootout.
The last-minute goal was awarded ESPN's 2011 ESPY Award for Best Play of the Year.
During the 2012 London Olympics, she scored three goals and tallied a team-high four assists to lead the United States to a gold medal.
She is the first player, male or female, to score a goal directly from a corner at the Olympic Games.

Our lead picture is of Megan Rapinoe.
Our commentary bemoans sleeplessness without the ability to do useful work.
We posted the Boston weather report, the ticking calendar, and the growing number of posts as a calendar marker.
We posted a letter from Sally C, our dinner, and a chuckle.
Finally, our Thumbnail added a bit about Megan Rapinoe.
And now? Gotta go.

See you soon.
