First results of the existentialautotrip.com free-standing videos: auspicious beginnings.
After weeks of sporadic postings we finally got the rhythm down and the video postings will be happening regularly, daily, if possible.
But we had to start counting somewhere – establish a baseline.
So we developed a scoresheet.
We analyzed the definitions each of the social media applied to viewership and settled on the number each uses to count an actual clicking by the viewer.
We developed a book in Excel, with a scoresheet for each video as well as a summary page, and, of course, learned the technology for all of these efforts as we went.
Finally we settled on Sept 30 as an end date.
1,224 people have turned on our videos.
That counts all of the videos, about 26 to date, for the last 28 days.
That almost equals the blog readership for the same period, and the blog has been consecutively posted for 540 days.
So. We’ve begun.
I must say it’s been a somewhat prodigious effort.
We’ve begun with a reasonable formula for counting.
We’ll count again in two weeks with the hope of a leap forward.

I returned for a last meal from that Chinese food order I received a couple of days ago.
The Duck Curry was left.
Not too bad.
But it will be a long time before I order from that restaurant again.
I withhold the name because I’m not going to review it on the basis of a single takeout order.

Chuckle of the day:
Wednesday, October 2, 2019
A man opens the front door and wobbles into the bar.
He sits on a stool and, with a belch, asks the bartender for a drink.
The bartender politely informs the man that it appears that he has already had plenty to drink, he could not be served additional liquor at this bar, and could a cab be called for him? The drunk scoffs, grumbles, climbs down off the bar stool and staggers out the front door.
A few minutes later, the same drunk stumbles through the side door of the bar.
He wobbles up to the bar and demands a drink.
The bartender refuses service to the man and again offers to call a cab.
The drunk looks at the bartender, curses, and staggers out the side door.
A few minutes later, the same drunk bursts in through the back door of the bar.
He plops himself on a bar stool and loudly calls for a drink.
The bartender comes over and equally loudly reminds the man that he is clearly drunk, will not be served, and either a cab or the police will be called immediately.
The drunk leans forward, squints at the bartender, focuses, and cries out, "Man! How many bars do you work at?"

Your video topic today (Oct 1) is spot on - mentoring as benefits the mentor as well as the student, and not just that it makes us feel good. I've always maintained that a good teacher learns as much from his or her students as they learn from the teacher. I certainly find that even a simple exchange with a stranger often gives me great joy, for I learn something new from each soul.
Web Meister’s Response: Like that!

Downton Abbey is a 2019 British historical period drama film written by Julian Fellowes, creator and writer of the television series of the same name, produced by Gareth Neame, Liz Trubridge and Fellowes, and directed by Michael Engler.
The film is a Carnival Films production, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures International distributing and continues the storyline from the series, with much of the original cast returning.
The film, set in 1927, depicts a visit by the King and Queen to the Crawley family's English country house in the Yorkshire countryside.
As the Royal staff descend on Downton an assassin has also arrived and attempts to kill the monarch.
The family and servants are pitted against the royal entourage, including the Queen's Lady-in-waiting who has fallen out with the Crawleys, especially the Dowager Countess, over an inheritance issue.
Gareth Neame and Fellowes started planning a feature adaptation in 2016, shortly after the series ended.
It was officially confirmed in July 2018 and filming began later that month, lasting through November.
The film was released in the United Kingdom on 13 September 2019, and in the United States on 20 September 2019.
It received generally positive reviews from critics and has grossed $107 million worldwide.
Fans of Lady Mary, played by Michelle Dockery, should tune into “Godless,” an American Western drama web television miniseries created by Scott Frank for Netflix.
The seven-episode series began production in Santa Fe, New Mexico in September 2016, and was released on Netflix globally on November 22, 2017.
The series received positive reviews, and was named one of the year's 10 best by The Washington Post and Vanity Fair.
