Wednesday morning, held at the Microsoft store in the Prudential Center, I attended the Microsoft unveiling of its new products.
The takeaway is the success of its Surface line of laptops.
That success has led the company to develop new iterations of their laptops that are substantially more powerful and sleeker with competitive price points.
Not available until holiday season next year, Microsoft will be adding to its Surface lineup of PCs a tiny Surface (less than 6” when folded, double that when unfolded.)
The Neo as they call it, will sport two screens that can run one application spanning both screens or two separate applications.
At the same time, they will add a new dual 5.6” display called the Surface Duo Android with Windows 10 X software for dual-screen devices.
More immediately, new products will be out by the end of Ocober including the Surface Laptop 3, Surface Pro X and Surface Pro 7 tablets, Surface Earbuds and the SQ1 custom Arm chip.
The store staff was yelling and cheering every new entry.
It was fun.

We made roast lamb sandwiches for dinner today, with a wonderful baguette from Tatte Latte buttered with mascarpone cheese.
We tossed the lamb in a bit of lamb gravy and pesto sauce and layered it with an heirloom-tomato and red onion salad dressed with evoo.
Stunning.

Chuckle of the day:

A man stayed drinking at the bar all night until the bartender announced the bar’s closing.
So the patron stood up to leave and fell flat on his face.
Figured he’d stay prone, crawl outside, get some fresh air and then stand.
Outside he took some deep breaths, pulled himself up along a parked car, but when he released it he fell flat on his face.
He decided to crawl the 4 blocks to his home.
He tried to stand when he reached his door but yet again, fell flat on his face.
He crawled through the door and into his bedroom.
He pulled himself up to his bed and fell right into it and into dreamland.
He was awakened the next morning to his wife standing over him, shouting, "So, you've been out drinking again!!"
"What makes you say that?" he asked, putting on an innocent look.
"The pub called -- you left your wheelchair there again."

This from Sally C:
As you know, I'm working on a book about a police officer, age 28, murdered in my home town when I was ten, whose name I've never forgotten, although I never met him. I've been meeting more regularly with his family members, friends, and colleagues. My interest in the story unveils much that those who loved him still harbor after 55 years. I had an opportunity to speak with his brother last Friday evening. After I introduced myself (for I have not yet met the brother in person), we chatted for a bit, finding common ground, before I dug a bit deeper into the purpose of the book. The primary goal of the book will be to illustrate how the families of fallen police officers suffer. I said to this man that I want to propose measures that will help ease that grief, even though no one can ever erase it. "No," he said, "nothing can make it go away. But you have no idea how much pain your call tonight has alleviated."
Wow! This was truly humbling. This openness to me, a stranger he has not yet met.
I'll never truly "get" the core of what they've endured, but their emotional honesty with me will bring me as close as I can get. They are blessing me!
Go well, my friend!
Sally
Web Meister’s Response: Sounds interesting. Good luck with it.

Rocco Francis Marchegiano (September 1, 1923 – August 31, 1969), best known as Rocky Marciano, was an American professional boxer who competed from 1947 to 1955, and held the world heavyweight title from 1952 to 1956.
He is the only Heavyweight champion to have retired undefeated as champion.
His six title defenses were against Jersey Joe Walcott, Roland La Starza, Ezzard Charles (twice), Don Cockell and Archie Moore.
Known for his relentless fighting style, formidable punching power, stamina, and exceptionally durable chin, Marciano has been included by boxing historians in lists of the greatest boxers of all time, and is currently ranked by BoxRec as the eighth greatest heavyweight boxer in history.
His knockout-to-win percentage of 87.76% remains one of the highest in heavyweight boxing history.
Rocky Marciano fought two celebrated boxing matches with Ezzard Charles. The first match took place on 17 June, 1954; and the second on 17 September, 1954. The first fight went the distance with Marciano winning on points through a unanimous decision. In the second bout Marciano knocked out Charles in the eighth round.
