The second in a series putting death and dying in a perspective from which we may live out lives without the dread and fear often accompanying the end of our lives.
Death?
It’s a goin’ away party!
These lyrics were written by William Schwenck Gilbert and
put to music by Arthur Sullivan
from their operetta, Yeoman of the Guard
Is life a boon?
If so, it must befall
That Death, whene'er he call,
Must call too soon.
Though fourscore years he give
Yet one would pray to live
Another moon!
What kind of plaint have I,
Who perish in July?
I might have had to die
Perchance in June!
Is life a thorn?
Then count it not a whit!
Man is well done with it;
Soon as he's born
He should all means essay
To put the plague away;
And I, war-worn,
Poor captured fugitive,
My life most gladly give -
I might have had to live
Another morn!
Death?
It’s a goin’ away party!

Love your notes.

From Richard Engleson:
Hey, Dom,
I want you to know that I’m still enjoying my three-course lunches for $2.00 a day.
But I really want to congratulate you on the blog posting dealing with death.
But you are a long way off from that, my friend.
Web Meister Responds: Thanks, Richard. What about sending us something on the Hebraic view of death?
And Richard responded affirmatively. And if you knew Richard, you’d know that it is as good as done, and done well.

Chuckle for Thursday, May 2, 2019
Husband came home upset and confronts his wife, “Jerry said that you said that I’m an idiot.”
“So sorry,” she says. “I didn’t know it was a secret.”

Answer to the Question of the Day: Thursday, May 2, 2019
What is Memorial Day?
Memorial Day (or Decoration Day) is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering and honoring persons who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
The holiday, which is currently observed every year on the last Monday of May, was most recently held on May 28, 2018.
Memorial Day was previously observed on May 30 from 1868 to 1970.
Memorial Day is considered the unofficial start of the summer vacation season in the United States, while Labor Day marks its end on the first Monday of September.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day, particularly to honor those who died in military service.
Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.
Two other days celebrate those who serve or have served in the U.S. military: Veterans Day, which celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans; and Armed Forces Day, a minor U.S. remembrance celebrated earlier in May, specifically honoring those currently serving in the U.S. military.

Good Morning on this Thursday, May 2, 2019
We posted a second thought on preparing for death, continuing the conversations on the subject: the lyrics to a Gilbert and Sullivan song.
We counted our postings, talked about the weather, and decided on Chicken and Artichokes for dinner.
We posted a conversation with Richard Engleson and a chuckle.
Our question for the day asked about Memorial Day.
And now? Gotta go.
Che vuoi? Le pocketbook?
See you soon.
