So, weight under control: a gradual trend downwards, my preferred direction.
Weights part of routine.
Continuing with the controlled titillations of mind-bending indulgences: alcohol and caffeine.
Health is fine.
Active with blog (this our 533rd post) and videos.
Family and friends are reasonably fine.
I do not believe that noting our well-being is a curse: bad things may happen but not because we speak of good things.
Question is, how long will this state of affairs last?
When I started the blog I signed on for 5,000 posts, over 10% of which are now in the past.
4,500 to go.
Betting I will make it.
Working to make it so.

This from Sally C:
I have just returned from a Christian women's weekend retreat.
It was a profound experience for me, for several reasons.
For one, never before in my life have I been part of a large group of women (about 30 of us from several North Shore churches) for any extended period of time.
I grew up with men (four brothers, no sisters), I have nearly always worked in male-dominated professions (engineering fields, industrial pipefitting), and have played extensively in male-dominated hobbies (living history reenactments).
So, although I have strong, abiding friendships with women, these are few in number, and I find that I have more men than women as close friends (including my husband of 34 years).
This exposure and sharing by many women, willing to open their hearts candidly with their concerns and joys, from every walk of life, from new mothers to great-grandmothers, I found fulfilling.
I think we all found different levels of renewal; the new friendships will grow.
I like your ever-positive remarks as we enter the fall season. Enjoy!
Sally
Web Meister’s Response: I’ve been on my share of retreats and, like you, found the experiences rewarding.

Our lead picture, The Kiss, is an oil-on-canvas painting with added gold leaf, silver and platinum by Austrian Symbolist painter Gustav Klimt.
It was painted at some point in 1907 and 1908, during the height of what scholars call Klimt's "Golden Period".
The painting depicts a couple embracing each other, their bodies entwined in elaborate beautiful robes decorated in a style influenced by the contemporary Art Nouveau style and the organic forms of the earlier Arts and Crafts movement.
Despite an ongoing controversy regarding Klimt's three-part Vienna Ceiling series, which was criticized as pornographic, The Kiss was enthusiastically received and was purchased, still unfinished, by the Austrian government when it was put on public exhibition.
The painting is considered by scholars to be a masterpiece of Vienna Secession.
It now hangs in the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere museum in the Belvedere, Vienna.
