I met love on a warm September evening
his smile lit me on fire; my toes burned.

Love grew and it stretched in many countries
And over paella and tours of the past.

Were we always going to be doomed?
I still dream of my hand tracing your face.

In my dreams, I hug you tighter and with more
caution because I know you are gone from me,always.

There’s more truth that forever is the only word
for all the accumulation of loss in my life.

I looked for you in customs at Logan to tell
you something funny. You were not there.

I shared my laughter with herds of strangers
facing the same hurdles.

I walked by people hugging each other and
handing flowers to their loved ones after
a long flight.

Remember when I stood there waiting for you?
I was so excited and brought you water and you
turned the corner and said to me I have water.

There was no smile.

I hope you can feel all my love for you
across the city for all that you are and for
all that you do.

I hold the lake of tears in my hands.

Two friends joined us for dinner.
We had Fusilli with the classic Italo Sunday Gravy with assorted meats, followed by a simple Slow-Roasted Duck.
Yummy.
Conversation covered technology, job search, and emigration.
Fun.

From Kali L, on the occasion of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States.

Dom,

I was flying back to Boston this year on September 11. The date wasn't lost on me...

I was 15 on the day it happened and I was in geometry class - everything stood still that day and in my mind it still does.

I was thinking yesterday and reflecting on 9/11 the photos, the powerful stories after, the Boston connection of the man with the red bandana; a story that is tragic and hopeful.

How one man from my small town of Norwell, MA and another man from a small town in Abington, MA were killed on a flight- never to come home to their wives or children.

The last time you hear the voice of the person you love and what you become after...

How you remake the gaping hole of that loss

Love isn't meant to be mediocre. Every day live as deeply and love as deeply as you can in each of your moments.

I have found that love is the only reason I am here.

It doesn't take much effort to practice kindness liberally.

All my love,

Kali

Web Meister responds: Thank you, my dear, for sharing those moments.
Who can forget their personal horror of that day, so overwhelming that it took telling and retelling to get a listener to believe that it indeed happened; was happening: disaster following disaster like some made up low-grade movie plot.
love

Chuckle of the day:
Saturday, September 14, 2019

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we have our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

Border Collie: Just one. And then I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

Dachshund: You know I can't reach that stupid lamp!

Rottweiler: Make me.

The War of 1812 was a conflict fought between the United States and the United Kingdom, with their respective allies, from June 1812 to February 1815.

Historians in Britain often see it as a minor theatre of the Napoleonic Wars; historians in the United States and Canada see it as a war in its own right.

From the outbreak of war with Napoleonic France, Britain had enforced a naval blockade to choke off neutral trade to France, which the US contested as illegal under international law.
To man the blockade, Britain pressed American merchant sailors into the Royal Navy.
American sentiment grew increasingly hostile toward Britain due to incidents such as the Chesapeake–Leopard affair, which happened five years before the war.

The British were in turn outraged by the Little Belt affair in 1811, in which 11 British sailors died.

Britain supplied arms to American Indians who raided American settlers on the frontier, hindering American expansion and provoking resentment.

Historians debate whether the desire to annex some or all of British North America (Canada) contributed to the American decision to go to war.
However, the Western interest was in expansion into American territories such as Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin, where they were threatened by Indians supported by the British.

On June 18, 1812, President James Madison signed into law the American declaration of war, after heavy pressure from the War Hawks in Congress.
