Can you believe it?
Our 500th post.
Where has this journey taken us?
From the thought of it, driving cross-country solo.
To my first bleary-eyed sit-down with the Squarespace platform and a knowledgeable friend.
To a typed-word document that I successfully pasted and posted.
To images!
Now that was a big step.
And the ongoing process of adding and deleting sections.
Most recently, adding home-grown videos.
Where will it take us?
I don’t know.
Remembering I am committed to 5,000 posts.
Am 10% of the way there.
!0%.
Who’d a-thought, 500 days ago, this day would get here so quickly.
And will 20% go by as quickly?
The blog has taken my into areas of technology I wouldn’t have dreamed possible 500 days ago.
And has been an intellectual revival, researching a good deal of the time across every field of human endeavor while looking for thumbnail nuggets our followers will enjoy. It’s electric.
And seeing the thousand friends, old and new who follow me, take therapy from the blog has been inspiring.
Because listening to these friends has been inspiring: adding impetus to my quest to be a better person.
Can you believe it?
Our 500th post.
Where will this journey take us?

Whole Foods ran an unannounced sale on lamb loin chops: half-price.
Bought them.
Slow-roasted them for 20 minutes then turned on the broiler and slid the chops as close to the flame as the oven would allow, fatty edge up for 3 minutes to allow the fat to slid down the face of the chops.
Then broiled the two sides of the chops for 3 min each.
I spread a bit of Pesto Sauce over them.
Lovely.

Chuckle of the day:
Monday, August 19, 2019
Drinking my coffee at the Blue Bottle communal table, I noticed in the waiting line a woman who greatly attracted me.
So, surreptitiously, I watched as she took her coffee, looked around for a seat, and chose to sit directly across from me.
A quick glance revealed no wedding ring.
I immediately did what any virile, red-blooded straight man would do with this opportunity:
I got really nervous,
said absolutely nothing,
strictly avoided eye-contact,
and double-downed my focus on my laptop until she got up to go.
My eyes followed her until she was out of sight.
Then I dreamed about what might’ve been.

Great job on the video and you are correct - Doctors don't always know what is best. I have tried Blue Emu on bone fractures and it is amazing!

Our lead picture, Gabrielle Cot, is an oil-on-canvas painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, produced in 1890.
The eponymous subject is the daughter of the French painter Pierre Auguste Cot, who was Bouguereau's most notable pupil.
He started the work as a study for another painting but decided to develop it into a full work after becoming enthralled by Gabrielle Cot's charm and beauty.
It was the only non-commissioned painting he ever painted.
Bouguereau gifted the painting to Gabrielle Cot's grandmother, Madame Duret, and it has been privately held since then.
It was exhibited to the public in Paris in 1891 and in New York in 1999.
William-Adolphe Bouguereau (30 November 1825 – 19 August 1905) was a French academic painter.
In his realistic genre paintings he used mythological themes, making modern interpretations of classical subjects, with an emphasis on the female human body.
During his life he enjoyed significant popularity in France and the United States, was given numerous official honors, and received top prices for his work.
As the quintessential salon painter of his generation, he was reviled by the Impressionist avant-garde.
By the early twentieth century, Bouguereau and his art fell out of favor with the public, due in part to changing tastes.
In the 1980s, a revival of interest in figure painting led to a rediscovery of Bouguereau and his work.
Throughout the course of his life, Bouguereau executed 822 known finished paintings, although the whereabouts of many are still unknown.
