"A father and child" by Andrey Karelin (comment by user:NVO - could it be a self-portrait? see Karelin's own photo).

The cycle of dominance, ward, and freedom.
Infancy, childhood, and adulthood.
Why being a ‘yes’ parent is so important.

Infants.
With their expectations.
Feed me, change me, keep me warm, sleep me.

And we do their bidding manically.
Never questioning.
Setting limits?
Never.
Everything.
Whatever they want.

But what about toddlers?
Crawling, walking about.
Touching electrical outlets.
Now comes the No!
Come the no’s.

Now we define ourselves as parents.
Lackadaisical?
Intrusive.
Firm?
Giving?

Our performance as parents is easy enough to measure: children have a right to decide moral and behavioral issues for themselves.
Is the basic rule.
In context with learning, mostly from parents, the rules of society, health issues, moral issues, family issues, preparing themselves for the future.

But in bringing our children to adulthood, it’s incumbent upon parents to introspect themselves, regularly, examining whether restrictions or expectations imposed on their children when younger, are still necessary for their older child.
If not, acknowledge that and change the restrictions.
During the introspections, bear in mind that we are not their moral arbiters.
That we are not police officers.
Stay ahead of the curve.
Loosen unnecessary restrictions before the child demands that we do.
Avoids a lot of unnecessary stress.
Makes a more harmonious family.
Makes a healthier adult.

Why being a ‘yes’ parent is so important.

It was written but simply human-error omitted.
Not giving up names.
We thank you for you patience.

In response to post on Wednesday, May 15, 2019: So what do we do with the missing of those who have passed away and those still living who are not present in our lives the way they once were?

Kali L writes:

'go on missing them, of course'
sometimes it is that simple-

When I read that line I laughed...

You gave me permission and made it okay for me to miss what is no longer and let it be what it is

Lately, I have been trying to see all the good moments as the gifts that they were and recognize that if I was once capable of that love and having it and nurturing it I will once again be capable of it-

WebMeister responds: All you need is the want. Look for joy immediately in front of you, my dear. So much of it waiting only for a simple reach. Your arms are long enough. Your heart is big enough. And so many people to make joyous at your return.

Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa (24 November 1864 – 9 September 1901), also known as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman, caricaturist, and illustrator whose immersion in the colorful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce a collection of enticing, elegant, and provocative images of the modern, sometimes decadent, affairs of those times.

Toulouse-Lautrec is among the best-known painters of the Post-Impressionist period, with Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Gauguin.

In a 2005 auction at Christie's auction house, La Blanchisseuse, his early painting of a young laundress, sold for US$22.4 million and set a new record for the artist for a price at auction.

I do not have a good parenting checklist. I’ll wing it and trust to my instincts. When the time comes. Not this week.

Good Morning on this Friday, the seventeenth day of May, 2019
Our homily talks about ‘yes’ parenting.
We posted the weather and date and tracked the number of postings and posted an apology for omitting yesterday’s “Good Morning” segment.
We also posted a letter from Kali L who continued a discussion from several days ago and, of course, we posted a chuckle.
And we reminded ourselves of Henri Toulouse Lautrec.

And now? Gotta go.

Che vuoi? Le pocketbook?

See you soon.

Your love.
