Thinking about behavior towards others, paying compliments jumps first into my mind.
How easy to speak; how well received.
Often very easy to find something to praise - a piece of jewelry or clothing; a hair-style or color; a blouse; a job well done.
Or redirect a compliment paid to you to include others who helped or thought they helped; or to redirect the compliment to the person who showed you how; or thought she showed you how. With your help, this page will grow.
As an adjunct to ‘compliments,’ I offer ‘inclusivity.”
While speaking, scan our listeners and include them.
Talk to parents by referencing a characteristic related to their caretaking, “Like the way you take care of your child,” or to a cheese monger, “I like to hear about the cheeses.”
As an opposite point to ‘compliments,’ I offer the role of listener.
No greater compliment may we pay another than by listening to what she is saying.
As proof of our courtesy, we’ll prepare 1 or more questions to prolong the speaker’s moment.
